Our story

A home with our story in its name.

We are Marija and Luka. Villa Mary Lou grew from a wish to return to our Dalmatian roots and create a place we would love to share.

An evening view of Villa Mary Lou

We spent years living and working abroad, discovering different places and imagining the home we might one day build. Returning to Dalmatia gave us the chance to turn those ideas into something real.

Mary Lou first took shape in Marija’s imagination. She wanted architecture, comfort and a sense of belonging to work together. We chose the spaces and details with everyday life in mind: how people would rest, cook, gather and spend time here.

The name belongs to our family too. Mary comes from Marija, while Lou brings together Luka and Luigi, our dog. Each of us has a small place in the name of the house.

We welcomed our first guests in 2021. Seeing people return is a particular pleasure. It tells us that the place we imagined has become somewhere others can relax, feel welcome and look forward to visiting again.

When you get in touch, you speak with your hosts. Tell us about the holiday you are planning and what matters to your group, from arrival arrangements to the facilities you would like to use. We can help you get the details you need before travelling.

Your inquiry

You can browse the calendar without entering a name or email. The form prepares a WhatsApp message with your name, email, dates, guest count and optional message. Clicking “Continue on WhatsApp” passes these details to WhatsApp through a link. You confirm sending to the hosts in WhatsApp. The form does not store the inquiry in Sanity or send it by email; selecting dates is not a confirmed reservation.
